Seller FAQ
Listing rules, fee math and payout timelines — exactly what to expect before your first sale.
The short version
You price your own cards. Cash sales cost 7% on Free or 5% on Pro and Business — a $100 sale pays you $93 or $95. Trades are charged a flat protection fee per collector ($2.99 Free, $0 Pro, $1.49 Business) plus 5% on any cash gap, never on card value. You can also consign cards or sell them to CardSwap. Connect Stripe to get paid automatically.
Listing rules
What can I list on CardSwap?
Any trading card game card in the CardSwap catalog — Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, Lorcana, Digimon, Flesh and Blood, Star Wars Unlimited and Gundam. CardSwap does not accept sports cards. From the Catalog page, pick a card and choose — from the Catalog page, pick a card and choose "List card". Every listing needs a front and back photo of your actual card. Every listing is tied to a normalized card (game, set, number, variant, language) plus your condition, grading status and quantity, so matches and buyers always see exactly what you hold.
How do I set my price?
You set your own ask price on every listing. The only floor is $0.50 minimum. The catalog shows a reference market value, but you can list above or below it — condition, grading and scarcity are yours to price.
Can a listing be both for sale and for trade?
Yes. Your collection feeds the matching engine for trades, and any listing with an ask price also appears on the Marketplace for cash buyers. You control marketplace visibility per listing from My listings.
What condition and grade should I declare?
Declare condition honestly (e.g. NM, LP, MP, HP) and whether the card is raw or graded. The matching engine weighs condition and grade compatibility, and misdeclaring condition is the fastest way to lose a rating and a buyer. If a card is professionally graded, include the grade — it affects match quality and what buyers will pay.
Are there listing limits?
Want Lists and active sale listings are unlimited on every plan. Pro adds Want List priorities, named and shareable lists, price alerts, import/export and featured placement perks. Business also adds market insights for wanted cards.
Fee math
What does CardSwap charge on a cash sale?
7% of the sale price on Free, or 5% on Pro and Business. Sell a card for $80 and you keep $74.40 on Free or $76.00 on Pro. There is no listing fee, no monthly requirement, and no percentage stacked on top.
What about trades?
Card-for-card trades are never charged a percentage of card value. Each collector pays a flat Trade Protection fee: $2.99 on Free, $0 for Pro members and $1.49 on Business. Trades that go through CardSwap for inspection add a $1.59 Trade Inspection Fee per trader, plus $8.49 if you choose tracked delivery from CardSwap. If a trade includes a cash adjustment (e.g. Charizard + $75 for a Venusaur), CardSwap takes 5% of the $75 cash portion only — $3.75 — never 5% of the $425 card.
Does my plan change my sale fee?
Yes. Free members pay 7% on cash sales; Pro and Business pay 5%. Pro also gets $0 trade protection (vs $2.99), high/medium/low Want List priorities, and advanced matching.
Is there a fee to list?
No. Listing a card, editing its price, and unpublishing it are all free. You only pay when money actually moves — a completed cash sale or an accepted trade.
Payout timelines
How do I get paid?
Connect a Stripe account from Buy & sell (Payouts card). Once onboarding is complete and charges are enabled, sale proceeds are held until the buyer confirms delivery (or 7 days after payment, whichever comes first), then the seller's share goes to your connected account and CardSwap's sale fee is retained — no manual payouts, no invoicing.
When does the money arrive?
Your first Stripe payout typically lands 7–14 calendar days after your first successful charge while Stripe verifies the account. After that, payouts follow the schedule on your Stripe Express dashboard — usually every business day or week, depending on your settings. Your Buy & sell dashboard mirrors the status of every order.
What if I don't connect Stripe?
Sales still complete, but the order is marked for a manual payout instead of an automatic transfer. Connecting Stripe is the only way to get paid automatically — we recommend doing it before your first sale so nothing is pending.
Where can I track fees I've paid?
The Buy & sell dashboard shows gross sales, the sale fee withheld, trade protection charges, and your payout history — so you always know your net without doing math.
Do I need to handle taxes?
CardSwap provides your transaction history for records, but you're responsible for reporting income per your local tax rules. Stripe may request identity details during onboarding to meet its own reporting requirements.
Selling to CardSwap and consignment
How does consignment work?
From your Seller page, fill in the consignment form with the card, its condition and your ask price, then ship it to CardSwap. Staff inspect it, store it and list it as a CardSwap Official listing. When it sells, you receive the sale price minus the consignment fee shown on your form.
What are CardSwap Official listings?
Cards sold by CardSwap itself, including consigned cards, carry a "CardSwap Official" badge. CardSwap has inspected and stores these cards. They may show the catalog image instead of member photos.
